Paris is recognized as the favorite city of TripAdvisor users from all over the world. However, the top ten most visited places on Earth included as many as three Italian cities - and here Italy is the undisputed leader. We present you a list of the most desired goals of any traveler.

A variety of beaches, historical squares, archaeological sites, mountains of different heights and wonderful cuisine. Italy has everything, and this is known to tourists from all over the world who annually choose this country as the goal of their trip. But which places are the most popular among users of TripAdvisor, the largest travel reviews site?

An honorary list is led by Paris, followed by New York and London. Italy, however, was distinguished by the largest number of cities in the top ten: Rome took fourth place in popularity, Venice ranked sixth, and Florence - eighth.

These are the results of the rating. Travelers' Choice Destinations Awards 2013 (lit. "Travelers' Choice 2013"), which has been published for 5 years in a row and defines the most popular tourist destinations among TripAdvisor portal users. Winners are selected based on the frequency of city requests on the site and its rating.

Interestingly, the top 10 global tourist destinations included 8 European cities. After Paris, New York, London and Rome are Barcelona, ​​Venice, San Francisco, Florence, Prague and Australian Sydney. If we consider only the European rating, then there was also a place for Berlin, Istanbul and St. Petersburg.

As for only Italian cities, the picture here is as follows:

  • On tenth location - the resort town of Cattolica located on the border of the Riviera-Romagnola (Emilia-Romagna) and the Marche region. By the way, 4 out of 10 Italian destinations are in Emilia-Romagna.
  • Ninth the place was taken by the ski resort of Selva di Val Gardena (Selva di Val Gardena).
  • Again Emilia-Romagna, and again the sea - Bellaria-Igea Marina (Bellaria-Igea Marina) is located on eighth line ranking.
  • Another resort on the Adriatic Riviera - Riccione - took seventh a place.
  • On the sixth Bologna established itself with its arcades, red brick buildings and rich cuisine.
  • Naples and the Gulf of Naples on fifth location.
  • Fourth the line belongs to Milan - the capital of fashion and shopping.
  • Florence is safely located on third place of the Italian rating (and also entered the Top 10 of the world list).
  • Slowly diving Venice was on second place in Italy and fifth in the world.
  • The gold medal of popularity among tourists went to Rome, which is not surprising. At the global level, the Eternal City took fourth place.
