Job interview in Italy - can I come with my mom?

Appearing for an interview with parents may seem strange to anyone, but not to a modern Italian. Has the situation really gone so far?

It turns out that Italians continue to “hold on to their mother’s skirt,” even when it comes to getting a job. At least every fourth Italian comes for an interview with his parents, most often with his mother. This is the trend that BP Sec, a specialist in consulting and educational services, has identified, having conducted research and interviewed more than a thousand people.

No matter how dubious the results of such a survey are from the point of view of official statistics, they should still be taken into account. “It happened that some candidates for work,” said Daniele Barbone, the founder of BP Sec, “came to the interview accompanied by his father, who, reluctantly, was sitting in the waiting room, to subsequently persistently demand information from the secretary about the results of his meeting children. "

According to the study, more than 25% of young people come for an interview accompanied by their father and mother, and a good 20% come with a brother or sister. While about 50% of candidates for work, in order to feel more confident, arrive at the place of interview with a husband, wife, groom or bride.

It turns out that a significant part of the new generation is not able to break away from their own family even in such a test of maturity as a job interview. And perhaps it is worth looking at a different angle from the cause of such massive youth unemployment (a new record was recently reached - 41.6%).

The influence of relatives, both positive and negative, on the results of the interviews should be analyzed.

The manager of the CastaDiva resort & spa hotel on Lake Como Miriana Verga confirms the problem: “The candidates come with both or one parent, a brother or bride, and the first thing they ask is how much they will earn. More family or friends are often eager to help job seekers during interviews. "

The statements of the consulting agency and the hotel manager sound completely atypical for ordinary studies in this area: earlier mention of mothers accompanying children for interviews was very rare. And they were considered as exceptional cases of family protectionism. But if they are not really unique, then this wake-up call cannot be ignored. Undoubtedly, mom is always mom. But still, in some situations, she should stay outside the door.

Unopened Basilicata

Basilicata is one of those regions of Italy where the foot of a Russian-speaking tourist rarely steps. Largely guilty of its geographical location and lack of information. The Basilicata includes two provinces of Matera and Potenza. They are located between the regions of Puglia and Calabria and, as it were, sandwiched between them. The region is located in the very south of Italy near the Gulf of Taranto (Ionian Coast), and its western part is washed by the Tyrrhenian Sea.
